What if the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles were written as a direct response to Josephus?

In this explosive interview, Dr. Dennis R. MacDonald joins Derek Lambert on MythVision Podcast to explore how Luke–Acts appears to engage with Josephus’ Antiquities of the Jews, including the infamous Testimonium Flavianum.

According to MacDonald, the author of Luke–Acts knew Josephus’ writings about John the Baptist, James the brother of Jesus, and even Jesus himself — but the picture in Josephus wasn’t flattering. Instead of a holy figure, Josephus likely portrayed Jesus as a pest, a rebel, and a violator of Torah.

Luke, MacDonald argues, rewrote the story to defend Jesus and Paul — turning Jesus into a Christian Socrates, unjustly executed but righteous to the end.
