Episode 1257
Albert (Jack Howarth) is sick of waiting for Ken (Bill Roache) to start decorating No.1, so he starts scraping the wallpaper off himself. Annie (Doris Speed) worries about how Lucille (Jennifer Moss) is managing on her own. Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) tells Ena (Violet Carson) that Minnie (Margot Bryant) has discovered the letter from Armistead Caldwell. Lucille tries to make her bedsit feel homelier by hanging up a poster and painting a chest of drawers, but her landlord, George Scully (Alan Gerrard), isn’t happy about it. Ena explains to Minnie that the letter was written after Minnie had a falling out with Armistead during a trip to Marple Lakes back in 1919. She insists there was nothing going on between her and Armistead. Ena later tells Emily in confidence that Armistead’s feelings for her were actually more serious than she’d made out to Minnie. At the Rovers, the men have a game of poker in the back room. Ken wins, but instead of taking their money, they all agree to help him with the decorating. Lucille sits alone and miserable in her bedsit.
