A fun run up to the Mogolon Rim and Chevlon Canyon Lake. It is a great area that most weekend warrior won't spend time driving to. Peaceful and less crowded than the few lakes along Forest Road 300. Unscheduled trip with an afternoon hike and paddleboard session. I was going to fish but left my tackle at home. Doh!
Chevelon Canyon Lake is quite remote and is a deep canyon lake that requires a relatively steep hike 3/4 of a mile to get to the waters edge from the parking area. Generally, only the most avid of anglers that are physically well-conditioned fish Chevelon Lake.
