The City of New Rochelle was proud to announce its inaugural Lunar New Year Lantern Ceremony, which took place on Saturday, February 24, from 5 PM to 7 PM at New Rochelle City Hall, 515 North Avenue. City Hall’s front lawn was adorned with illuminated lanterns to celebrate the Year of the Dragon.
The Lunar New Year Lantern Ceremony promised an evening of cultural festivities, entertainment, and community engagement. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in lantern-making with personalized written wishes and enjoyed performances, traditional music, and authentic refreshments.
"New Rochelle has always been a diverse and inclusive community, and we were excited to bring our inaugural Lunar New Year Celebration to City Hall. This holiday celebration is cherished by people worldwide, and we welcomed the opportunity to honor tradition and share cultural enrichment," said Sam Gomez, Director of Diversity & Inclusion.
This event was made possible by New Rochelle Diversity & Inclusion, New Rochelle Parks & Recreation, and the OCA-Asian Pacific American Advocates.
