Julie in Paradiso, Amsterdam

The L.A shoegaze indie rock band consisting of three members a.k.a. julie, came back to Europe. After one of band member became sick during their last tour they promised they would reschedule the tourdates. So here we are. Sold out show in a bigger venue in the heart of Amsterdam.

Julie didn't come alone however. They also brought along the London based band Sunken with them. Prior to the concert I had never heard or listened to Sunken and their sound, but after their set I did find it a little unfortunate that it was so short. Hopefully they'll be back in Europe again.

Back to julie however. As previously said, julie is an indie rock band based in L.A. Keyan (vocals, guitar) Alexandria (vocals, bass) and Dillon (drums) make up the band. Together they have been making music since 2018. After their first EP pushing daisies, gained lots of traction they took only another 4 years to release their first album my anti-aircraft friend, but it was well worth the wait. With songs like catalogue, very little effort and clairbourne practice being released as singles before the initial album release they gave their ever-growing fanbase a small taste of what was their soon to come album.

After the first listen of the album I personally felt like their sound was different compared to their earlier work. It felt a lot more calmer, yet more intense. Which has made me appreciate the band even more. Not only to see them grow and create an album, but to also see them take their time with it to make sure it's fully polished and ready for the world to experience. I was already obsessed with this new sound of Julie, but also experiencing not only older tracks, but also maaf live has been an amazing musical journey for me too. Although the soundsystem of the venue was lacking in a lot instances during the concert, I still enjoyed the concert and I hope to see Julie again in the near future.
