The city of Tyre was the capital of the Phoenicia, which is today in modern day Lebanon. The city of Tyre was the center of sea commerce at that time, and they were extremely wealthy. The city was set half on the seacoast and the other half on an island about ½ mile off the coast. It is also important to understand before listening to this study, that this island was ½ mile wide and ¾ of a mile long. The destruction of this city was totally devastating to the economy of the world.
