'THE DEATH OF KEATS' by LUKE WRIGHT
COMMISSIONED BY ARTHOUSE JERSEY & THE KEATS-SHELLEY MEMORIAL HOUSE IN ROME TO COMMEMORATE 200TH ANNIVERSARY OF POET'S PASSING
200 years ago today poet John Keats lost his battle with tuberculosis. Keats died in a small room on the second floor of Piazza di Spagna 26 with only his friend Joseph Severn at his side. He was just 25. It was a difficult and lonely death.
To help mark the bicentenary ArtHouse Jersey is delighted to share this co-commission with the Keats-Shelley Memorial House in Rome. This is a wonderfully contemporary nod to the late great poet from award winning British poet Luke Wright. It is called, simply, 'The Death of Keats'.
This poem will form part of the museum's official celebrations today in Rome.
