Hickory has never been my go-to turning wood… until now.
This gnarly chunk was full of voids, bark inclusions, and unpredictable grain — the kind of piece most folks would toss in the firewood pile. But I saw potential.

To hold it all together, I cast the blank in epoxy resin and mounted it on the lathe, hoping for the best. What came out of it? Stunning figure, wild character, and a final piece that just might change the way I look at hickory forever.
