This video is a re-recording of a video I did originally in German. And although German is a strangely beautiful language: 99,9% of the world doesn't speak this, hm, marvel of easy pronunciation. So - English it is…🙂

What I want to talk about today is the fact that the modern audience, and rightly so, expects to see at least a certain degree of believability when it comes to appearances and acting on an opera stage. Gone are the times where the audience was easily satisfied as long as two dietary challenged people are singing as loud as they can, proclaiming their burning desire for each other while standing 20 feet apart and staring at the conductor.

I miss the good old days… 😄

Anyway, let’s see if we can find some real and believable passion on the opera stage, shall we?
