This piece explores the philosophical concepts of determinism and free will.
It is structured with a central horn representing determinism and two outer horns symbolizing free will, evoking the imagery of wings. Through a fixed tone row, imitation and variation, and moments of improvisation, the piece examines how these two ideas interact.

During rehearsals, an intriguing insight emerged: no matter how freely the musicians tried to improvise, they could never completely escape the influence of musical materials already established in the piece. This revealed to me that determinism and free will are not necessarily opposing forces, but can coexist.

Within the work, these concepts sometimes blend harmoniously and sometimes create tension, offering a musical interpretation of this enduring philosophical debate.


이 작품은 결정론과 자유의지라는 철학적 개념을 탐구합니다.
결정론을 상징하는 가운데 호른과 자유의지를 상징하며 날개를 연상시키는 양 옆의 호른으로 구성되며, 정해진 음렬, 모방과 변형, 그리고 즉흥 연주를 통해 두 개념의 상호작용을 음악적으로 살펴봅니다.

리허설 과정에서 흥미로웠던 점은, 연주자들이 아무리 자유롭게 즉흥을 시도하더라도 이미 곡 안에 제시된 음악적 요소들의 영향에서 완전히 벗어날 수 없었다는 것입니다. 이를 통해 결정론과 자유의지가 서로 대립하는 개념이 아니라 양립할 수 있다는 점을 깨달았습니다.

작품 속에서 두 개념은 때로는 조화를 이루고 때로는 긴장을 만들어내며, 이 오래된 철학적 논쟁을 음악적으로 해석합니다.
