The #Tibetan #Plateau is located in Central Asia. It is a vast plateau, extending from the Himalayan mountain range in the south to the #Taklamakan Desert in the north. The Tibetan Plateau is spread over an area of 45 lakh square kilometers in an elliptical shape at a height of about four kilometers above sea level. In the northwestern part of the plateau is the Changtang area with a height of more than 5000 meters, which extends to the south-eastern #ladakh region of India.
This plateau becomes hot in summer, at this time its temperature is two to three degrees Celsius higher than the adjacent areas. In this way, the Tibetan plateau at a height of about five kilometers gets heated and acts as a heater. Due to which the air rises upward. It includes the Bod Autonomous Region, Ching Hai, Western Siswan, South-Western Gansu and Northern Yunnan regions controlled by China, as well as India's Ladakh. The Tibetan plateau is 1000 kilometers long from north to south and 2500 kilometers wide from east to west. The average height here is 4500 meters above sea level and all 14 mountains in the world higher than 8000 meters are found in or around this area. The Tibetan Plateau is sometimes called the "Roof of the World". This plateau is surrounded by great mountain ranges. To the north is the Kunlun mountain range, which lies between this plateau and the Tarim Basin. The Chilian Ranges in the northeast divide it from the Gobi Desert. In the east and south-east, instead of open plateau, there are forested valleys, from where many of the major rivers of Asia begin, such as the Salween River, the Mekong River and the Yangtze River. India's important Brahmaputra river also begins in South Tibet. To the west between this plateau and northern Kashmir come the huge Karakoram Mountains. It is worth noting that Ladakh of India is also situated on this plateau and when one goes to Ladakh from Delhi, one actually crosses the entire Himalayan mountain range and reaches the Tibetan plateau. #Plateauoftibet
