After a difficult morning dealing with cancelled and delayed trains at Dalry, I abandoned my original plans and decided to explore a rewarding local-ish route. I headed for the Lochshore Park area to undertake a lovely 4-mile circular trek around Kilbirnie Loch. The paths were a welcome escape from the travel drama, offering beautiful golden autumn colours and stunning clear views of the water and the hills beyond, a pleasant contrast to my previous rainy visit. I even had the absolute pleasure of seeing a family of three deer as I made my way to the loch loop path.
