Let me know if you use this video to prepare for the Thredbo MTB Cannonball Festival.
So bummed to have ridden Thredbo MTBs Cannonball only once. I let it's reputation intimidate me too much and so had left it in favour of riding and filming the other trails instead, leaving Cannonball last. This is a trail favoured by a lot of young riders keen to put themselves to the test and I have to applaud them for giving it a crack at such an early age. If this is the future of MTBing we're in good hands.
Yes, it's a difficult black diamond trail with sections that cross over to double diamond but by no means was it a trail I wasn't capable of riding. I avoided the gap jumps at the start that I could have cleared but definitely not something I'd attempt on my first run.
The trial is a mix of gnarly rock gardens and techy downhill that progress further down the hill to form a mix of great drops and berms that are tight and flowy.
I feel for the young rider that came to grief half way down but that just shows it's a trail not to be underestimated either.
