The intro solo from “Holiday” is one of the first lead melodies that I teach in my acoustic guitar classes. I choose it as a fine example of the basic qualities that define a great lead line: It consists of well constructed phrases, uses elegantly the tension-release element and it has the addictive nature to stay forever in your memory after hearing it for the first time.
