Sorry if the title is a bit too click-baity :-), but I was genuinely transfixed when I discovered the little man-fowl character from my EP Medieval's display painted in the margin of a genuine XIIIth-century manuscript from the British Library ! All with hat, flute, tambourine, duck feet and every other little detail !
The manuscript has become hard to find online. It used to be among the publicly available digitalised manuscripts from the British Library but ceased to be after a big server crash in 2018 (like many other manuscripts). Because of that, it ended up being quite the investigation to find out where I had seen that little creature before. I hope there is someone out there who is as interested in this pointless bit of information as I was ! :-)
