三峯神社

三峯神社の由緒は古く、当山大縁起によると日本武尊（やまとたけるのみこと）が伊弉諾尊（いざなぎのみこと）・伊弉册尊（いざなみのみこと）をお祀りしたのが始まりと伝わります。

景行天皇の命により東国平定に遣わされた尊は、甲斐国（山梨）から上野国（群馬）を経て、碓氷峠に向われる途中三峯山に登り、山川が清く美しい様子をご覧になり、国をお生みになられた二神をおしのびになって仮宮を建てお祀りし、この国が永遠に平和であることを祈られました。この時、尊を道案内したのが狼(山犬)であったとされ、神様の使いとして一緒にお祀りされています。

その後、景行天皇は日本武尊が平定した東国を巡幸された折に三峯山に登られ、三山高く美しく連らなることから「三峯の宮」の称号をたまわりました。

降って文武天皇の時、修験の祖役小角（おづぬ）が伊豆から三峯山に往来して修行したと伝えられています。この頃から当山に修験道が始まったものと思われます。

淳和天皇の時には、勅命により弘法大師が十一面観音の像を刻み、社殿の脇に本堂を建て本地堂としました。

こうして徐々に佛教色を増し、神前奉仕も僧侶によることが明治維新まで続きました。

鎌倉期から畠山重忠などの東国武士を中心に篤い信仰をうけていましたが、正平7年（1352）足利氏を討つ兵を挙げた新田義興・義宗等が、戦い敗れ当山に身を潜めたことから、社領を奪われ、山主も絶えて、衰えた時代が140年も続きました。

文亀二年（1503）、修験者月観道満がこの荒廃を嘆き、27年という長い年月をかけて全国を行脚し、復興資金を募り社殿・堂宇の再建を果たしました。

天文2年（1533、）山主龍榮が京都の聖護院へ参じ、「大権現」の称号をたまわって、坊門第一の霊山となりました。以来、天台修験の関東総本山となり観音院高雲寺と称しました。

更に、観音院第七世の山主が京都花山院宮家の養子となり、以後の山主は、十万石の格式をもって遇れました。

現在社紋として用いている「菖蒲菱（あやめびし）」は花山院宮家の紋であります。

やがて、享保5年（1720）日光法印という僧によって、「お犬様」と呼ばれる御眷属（ごけんぞく）信仰が遠い地方まで広まりました。

以来信者も全国に広まり、三峯山の名は全国に知られました。

その後明治の神佛分離により寺院を廃して、三峯神社と号し現在に至っています。

The god sent to Togoku Heisei by the order of Emperor Keiko climbed Mitsuminesan on the way to Usui Pass from Kai Province (Yamanashi) to Kozuke Province (Gunma), and saw the clean and beautiful state of the mountain river. He built a temporary palace and worshiped the two gods who gave birth to the country, and prayed that this country would be peaceful forever. At this time, it is said that it was the wolf (mountain dog) who guided the honor, and it is enshrined together as a messenger of God.

After that, Emperor Keiko climbed Mitsuminesan when he was toured the eastern country where Takeru Nihon was settled, and since he was beautifully connected to Mitsuminesan, he went around the title of "Mitsuminenomiya".

It is said that when Emperor Monmu fell, Ozunu, the founder of Shugendo, came and went from Izu to Mt. Mimine to practice. It seems that Shugendo started around this time.

At the time of Emperor Junna, Kobo Daishi carved a statue of Eleven-faced Kannon by command and built a main hall beside the shrine to make it the main hall.

In this way, the color of Buddhism gradually increased, and the service of the gods continued until the Meiji Restoration by the monks.

Since the Kamakura period, he has been worshiped mainly by Togoku samurai such as Shigetada Hatakeyama, but Yoshioki Nitta and Yoshimune, who named the soldiers who defeated Ashikaga in 1352, lost the battle and hid themselves in the mountain. As a result, the company's territory was robbed, the mountain owner disappeared, and the era of decline continued for 140 years.

In the second year of Bunki (1503), the trainee Tsukikan Doman lamented this devastation and traveled all over the country for 27 years, soliciting reconstruction funds and rebuilding the shrine and Dou.

In the 2nd year of Astronomy (1533), Ryuei, the lord of the mountain, visited the Shogo-in Temple in Kyoto and became the first sacred mountain in Bomon, celebrating the title of "Daigongen". Since then, it has become the Kanto head temple of the Tendai Shugendo and was called Kannonin Kounji.

In addition, the 7th Kannonin mountain lord was adopted by the Kyoto Hanayamain Miyake family, and the subsequent mountain lords were treated with the style of 100,000 stones.

"Ayamebishi", which is currently used as the company crest, is the crest of the Hanayama-in Miyake family.

Eventually, in 1720, a monk named Nikko Houjin spread the belief in the Gokenzoku genus called "dogs" to distant regions.

Since then, believers have spread all over the country, and the name of Mt. Miune has been known all over the country.

After that, the temple was abolished due to the separation of Shinbutsu in the Meiji era, and it is called Mitsumine Shrine and continues to the present day.
