On this episode of Napoleon's Marshals, we will be diving into the Emperor's close friend and confident Jean Lannes, the Count of Montebello. Lannes born in Gascony, like his fellow Marshals was able to rise up the ranks through the French Revolution. He would serve with Napoleon in Italy, and then he would be hand picked to join him during his conquest in Egypt and Syria.
Lannes was such a good field commander, that to this day his tactics during the War of the Fourth Coalition are still studied at the French Staff College. He was a man who led from the front without any regard for his own safety, and loved his soldiers, as much as he loved his own family. He will be the only one who when Napoleon was at the peak of his power, would warn him of his hubris and foretold him of the fall of his Empire and France.
Thanks for joining us today, this is a fun series to do as there is not many videos on all of Napoleon's Marshals, and with the Napoleon film coming out in November thought this would be a fun analysis of the men who moved Napoleon's Grand Armee.
