UCLA Neurology is known for its state-of-the-art research labs. Here faculty, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows work together to develop groundbreaking research methods and treatments for a wide variety of neurological diseases. In this episode of our lab profile series, we highlight the work of Dr. William Zeiger, Assistant Professor-in-Residence at the UCLA Department of Neurology.
The goal of Dr. Zeiger's lab is to understand how cortical circuits are involved in neurological diseases. The cortex is the outermost part of the brain, responsible for consciousness, thought, emotion, reasoning, language and memory. The cortex is injured or damaged in a number of neurological diseases, such as stroke and Parkinson's Disease.
