AI Video Study - Recreation of Red Velvet's Dumb Dumb Video

This project was an exercise for me to learn the various AI tools. Most of the content was created between May-August 2025 using Hailuo Minimax, Google Veo 2 & 3, Kling, Recraft, and maybe a few others. I am going to do a full breakdown of what I learned later , but there are a few easy takeaways already.
First, the tools just a few months ago couldn't do half of what I can do now. I spent so much time trying to get the dancing and costumes to match, plus consistency was lacking. I am excited to try something similar soon to take advantage of the newer tools.
Second, I wish I would have practiced video editing before creating the content. I relied too much on getting the AI to create things like I wanted, when really I should have left some effects to the edit tool (Davinci Resolve).
Third was just how things I thought would be easy, rotary phone dial rotating, were super hard to get a good result, while the dancing I thought would be hard, ended up being fairly easy.
Finally, I never realized how many shots are in a music video like this. So many 1-2 frame shots!

I learned a lot and happy with the result. The goal wasn't to match it perfectly, but to treat it as more of a "what if I was doing previz" for the result. I also didn't care too much about color grading or perfect masks. That being said, perhaps the next project will focus on that a bit more.
