📖 Story Synopsis:
It was National Day, coinciding with my fifth wedding anniversary with my wife, Elizabeth.
We had planned to travel to the Aegean Sea for the holiday together, but on the morning of our departure, Elizabeth hurriedly packed her luggage and told me, “The company needs me for a last-minute business trip.”
I believed her, until late at night, when I saw a tweet from Elizabeth’s first love, Gabriel.
In the photo, the two of them were intimately close, fingers tightly intertwined, wearing matching couple bracelets that stood out brightly.
I forced a smile. She did go to the Aegean Sea after all, but the person she went with wasn’t me.
I didn’t call to confront her. I simply liked the tweet.
A minute later, Elizabeth nervously called me. “It’s a misunderstanding. We just happened to bump into each other while on business. I promise I’ll make it up to you next year for National Day.”
I sneered, “It’s fine. Hope you enjoy yourself.”
Elizabeth, puzzled, asked, “Why aren’t you jealous this time?”
