Labour is under pressure to spell out whether it will pay compensation to women affected by state pension age changes, amid warnings it could blow a £10 billion hole in Rachel Reeves’s Budget.
Shadow welfare chief Helen Whately said millions of women are “being left in the dark” with no clear information.
Reeves raised taxes by £26 billion to boost welfare spending and increase Budget “headroom,” but this plan is now in doubt after ministers agreed to review possible compensation for women who say the pension age changes were unfair.
