So here we are with a 15yr old Taylor needing a neck reset.
What is covered in this video;
• Checking the neck angle
• Adjusting the truss rod
• Replacing the saddle
• Removing the neck
• Replacing the neck shims
• Reassembly, tuning and testing
This Taylor acoustic guitar seemed like a candidate for a neck reset, right from the start. Symptoms included;
• High action
• Straight edge rule connects with the bridge when it should clear it.
• Saddle has been sanded almost flat to the bridge, with little brake angle left.
After the repair
• Noticeable increase in volume.
• Lower action, making it easier to play.
• Improvement to tone with a bone saddle replacement
How long did it take?
Ignoring the wait for parts and me stupidly trying to figure out the maths, I would say around an hour start to end.
