Holding On When Life Feels Heavy

In Luke 2:22–38, we meet Simeon and Anna — two faithful servants who waited their entire lives for God’s promise to be fulfilled. Israel was living under oppression, longing for deliverance, yearning for the Messiah. Yet in the middle of the darkness, these two never gave up hope.

When they finally held the baby Jesus, they knew immediately:
This is the One.
The promised Son of David.
The fulfilment of prophecy.
The Light Isaiah spoke of — “the people walking in darkness have seen a great light.”

Like them, we live in a world marked by corruption, brokenness, and deep weariness.
But Jesus is still the Light breaking into our darkness.
He frees us not only from external oppression, but from the struggle within. As Paul said, though we battle our flesh, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Through the Spirit of God, we’re lifted out of darkness and anchored in true hope.
