A love story started two thousand years ago in all its details,
When the missionary prophets put foot on Aleppo’s land where the seeds of love for Jesus grew in the hearts of its residents… and so was the church of Aleppo..
In less than half a century St. Maroun lighted the hearts of many, planted a blossoming field for Jesus lovers, creating the core of the Maronite church
All was done on our beloved land, the land of Aleppo’s parish
From this ground the tree of Maroun’s grew and so were the Maronites, the Maronite church had its roots spread to the beloved Lebanon, and its branches shadowed the whole land, however its core seed never moved from the city of Aleppo.
While everything around us was dying, and everyone surrounding us was glooming with death… the city faded away and the whole world mourned our passing!
God stood tall in the middle of this cathedral and said: “young lady, to you I ask, rise, and she risen… and we were witness to this resurrection day by day
When you see it bare from its decorations and ceiling, don’t stare down to it so it wouldn’t be ashamed.. rather close your eyes and observe it with your minds
If you see its destruction do not say “oh how its destroyed!”
But say “my God! It is still as beautiful as ever, so beautiful!”
Don’t touch its wounds with harsh looks and words, instead wash them with your tears
Don’t be sad for it but celebrate with it… its alive not dead
Say along with the bishop .. here I come to God’s altar, to the lord who brighten my youth!
Bow to it because its your mother if it wearied it won’t fall rather gets more glorious and mightier
If one day it fell under the burdens of hardships do not be afraid..
Because God is in its midst, so it shall not move


الله في وسطِها فلن تتزعزع!
قصةُ عشقٍ بدأت في تفاصيلِها منذُ ألفي عام، حينَما وطأتْ أرضَ حلبَ أقدامُ الرسلِ المبشرينَ بالمسيح، فنمَتْ بذورُ المحبةِ لهُ في قلوبِ الحلبيين.. فكانت كنيسة حلب...
في سنواتٍ لم تزدِ على نصفِ قرنٍ ألهبَ مارونُ بمثلِهِ قلوب َكثيرين، حتى زرعَ بستاناً مزهراً لعشاقِ المسيح، فكانَت نواةُ الكنيسةِ المارونية...
كلُّ ذلكَ كانَ على أرضِنا الحبيبة، على أرضِ أبرشيّةِ حلب، ومنها، نمتْ شجرةُ "بيتِ مارون" ليصبحوا الموارنةَ، فالكنيسةَ المارونية، التي امتدَّتْ جذورُها إلى أرضِ لبنانَ الحبيب، وأغصانُها ظلَّلتِ الأرضَ كلَّها، إلا أنَّ بِذرتَها لم تتركْ يوماً أرضَ حلب.
فحينَ كانَ كلُّ ما حولِنا يموت، ومَن حَولَنا يقولُ لَنا: موتوا... وفيما المدينةُ تندثر، والعالمُ كلُّهُ يَنعينا مائتينَ لا محالة! وقفَ اللهُ في وسطِ هذهِ الكاتدرائيةِ وقالَ لها: "أيها الصبية، لكِ أقول: قومي"، فقامَت.. وكُنّا نحنُ شهودَ هذهِ القيامةِ يوماً فيوم.
حينَ ترونَ عرييِّها من زينتِها وسقفها، لا تحملقوا فيها لئلا تخجلَ منكم.. بل أغمضوا أعينَكم وانظروا بعقولِكم..
إذا شاهدتُم خرابَها لا تقولوا عليها: "كم تخرّبت!".. بل قولوا: "يا إلهي! إنها ما زالَت جميلةً، وجميلةً جداً!"..
لا تلمسوا جراحاتِها بقسوةِ النظراتِ والكلمات، بل اغسلوها بدموعِكم..
لا تحزنوا عليها بل افرحوا معها.. فهي حيّةٌ لا تموت..
وقولوا مع الكاهن.. ها أنا آتي إلى مذبحِ الله، وإلى اللهِ الذي يبهجُ شبابي!
إنحنوا أمامَها فهي أمُّكم.. إذا ما تعبت، لا تقع بل تزدادُ مهابةً وجلالا.
وإذا كانت في يومٍ ما تتهاوى تحتَ وطأةِ الضربات، فلا تخافوا،
لأنَّ اللهَ في وسطِها فلن تتزعزع.
