The physician responsible for treating Wisconsin’s first coronavirus patient brings us to the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the first episode of The UW Now Livestream, Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association president and CEO Mike Knetter talks with Nasia Safdar MS’02, PhD’09 about the preparedness of the health system to address an increase in COVID-19 infections in Wisconsin and current successes in mitigating the virus’s spread. Safdar is a professor in the Division of Infectious Disease and vice chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She is also the medical director of infection control at UW Hospital and Clinics.
