Garden Journaling with Bethan Burton

This is a recording of our live demo Garden Journaling with Bethan Burton.

In this demonstration, Bethan discussed her journaling practice and explained how keeping a garden journal can enhance your gardening experience through creative record-keeping. She discussed what information to include in your journal, effective ways to track plantings and harvests, and how these records support becoming a better gardener (and artist!).

Bethan shared pages from her current garden journal and sketched one as an example! Whether you’re a seasoned gardener,a practiced artist, or just a beginner in both, this demo will inspire you to document your garden journey through art and observation. "We're not striving for perfection, we are aiming for connection."

For this demo, Bethan encourages you to have your favorite art supplies on hand, but recommends the following:

Pencil
Fineliner pen
Watercolors
Paintbrush

Bethan Burton is an artist and environmental educator from Brisbane, Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Conservation Biology and a Master of Environment in Education for Sustainability. Bethan is the founder of International Nature Journaling Week and the host of the podcast Journaling With Nature. She teaches nature journaling to all age groups and is passionate about connecting people with the natural world.
