The second animation was created by Taru Hirvonen (aka Taru the Qualiaphile; @taruh94), who joined a QRI work retreat in 2024 to explore the expressive potential of systems of coupled oscillators. This tool builds on an earlier QRI prototype for modeling stacked grids of oscillators and extends it dramatically. Here each node supports six possible "dimensions of oscillation," allowing for an extraordinarily rich space of emotional dynamics.

The third animation showcases a system of overlapping two-dimensional resonant modes (approximated using cosines). The wide variety of patterns emerges from differing temporal frequencies and carefully tuned weights across each 2D mode. Kinda hypnotic, but above all, deeply informative.
