Kalkaji Mandir Delhi, also known as Kalka Ji Temple Delhi, is one of the most sacred Siddh Peeths in India dedicated to Maa Kalika. This video covers temple history, darshan experience and visitor guide for those who are planning to visit this holy place in Delhi.
Located in South Delhi, near Nehru Place and Lotus Temple, this temple is believed to be centuries old and is very sacred for Maa Kali devotees.
According to legends, the site of Kalkaji Temple has been a place of worship since ancient times. It is said that Lord Krishna and the Pandavas prayed here to the Goddess before the Mahabharata war. The current temple structure is from 1764, built during the Maratha period and was expanded in 1816.
The temple has 12 gates, each representing a different form of devotion. The main sanctum (Garbh Grih) has the powerful idol of Maa Kalika, whose darshan is said to fulfill the wishes of devotees — hence it is called the Manokamna Siddh Peeth.
Inside the temple complex, you can also visit shrines of Lord Ganesha, Mata Santoshi, Lord Vishnu’s future avatar Kalki, Ram Darbar, Maa Kali in different forms. Mundan ceremonies are also available and nearby idols of Lord Shiva and Mata Durga where devotees tie sacred threads while making their wishes.
The complex also has the shrine of Bal Bhairav Baba (Doodhdhari Bhairav) and arrangements for drinking water and facilities for pilgrims are available.
Just a short walk from here you can also visit Swayambhu Mahakal Shiv Mandir where Lord Shiva resides in natural form and Lotus Temple famous for its architecture and peaceful environment.
