The sacred flame for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics will be ignited today at Ancient Olympia (Greece), marking the official start of the Olympic Torch Relay for the 2026 Winter Games. Originally planned outdoors at the historic ruins near the Temple of Hera, the ceremony has been moved indoors to the nearby Archaeological Museum due to persistent rain- but the symbolism remains: the flame, forged with traditional ritual and reverence to Olympic heritage, will now begin its journey, soon to be carried across Greece and handed over to the Milano-Cortina organisers.
