Peaceful eBike Tour of Victoria (Rabat), Gozo – Before the Crowds Arrive

Today’s video is a little different.

Usually, I’m hurtling through rugged Gozo trails on my mountain bike — but this time, I’m slowing it right down. I took my eBike for a quiet Sunday morning ride through the heart of Gozo’s capital, Victoria (also known as Rabat), before the city wakes up. What followed was one of the most peaceful rides I’ve ever done — and I had to bring you along for it.

As a local, I know these streets like the back of my hand — but seeing them at sunrise, completely empty, made me fall in love with the city all over again.
This video is not just a tour — it’s a moment in time, a side of Gozo even many locals don’t get to witness.

We begin the ride from Xagħra, heading downhill with the Citadel rising on the horizon. As we enter Victoria, we pass by historic landmarks like Dar il-Gvernatur, and cycle through iconic streets like Triq Fortunato Mizzi and Triq ir-Repubblika, which are usually buzzing with life. But today? Nothing but the sound of tires on pavement and birdsong in the trees.

I even pass by places with deep personal meaning — like the Sacred Heart Seminary where I studied (and now my son does too), and the War Memorial in Independence Square, where a relative of mine is remembered among Malta’s fallen heroes.
