F Qurbani, also known as Udhiyah or animal sacrifice, is an Islamic tradition that commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Ismail (Ishmael) in obedience to God's command.
The history of Qurbani dates back to the story of Prophet Ibrahim and Ismail, where Ibrahim was asked by God to sacrifice his son as a test of faith. Just as Ibrahim was about to carry out the command, God intervened and provided a ram to be sacrificed instead.
Today, Qurbani is an important ritual during Eid al-Adha, where Muslims sacrifice livestock (usually goats, sheep, cows, or camels) and distribute the meat to the needy.
