It's Whyalla's time to shine.
Our Executive Chairman Sanjeev Gupta has announced our Whyalla Steelworks will be phasing out coal-based steelmaking following the purchase of a state-of-the-art 160t Danieli electric arc furnace (EAF).
The EAF will initially be fed by domestic steel scrap and other Fe-bearing materials to deliver an expected 90% reduction in direct CO2 emissions compared with traditional blast furnace production by 2025.
