សួស្តី (soo-a sdei) from Siem Reap 🇰🇭 We’re back!!! ..... this time for Khmer New Year.

We took a remorque (aka 'la-mong' in khmer) ride into the city centre, which turned into beautiful chaos, once again. Very different to our Australian lifestyle haha.

As soon as we entered the centre of Siem Reap, there was water flying, faces covered in powder and a bunch of strangers becoming family for a day. And we loved every little surprise and sparks of laughter from complete strangers.

Gabriel got his first taste of it all, no warning, no warm up. Just thrown into the middle of the madness of khmer new year. We wandered through the streets of Siem Reap, packed shoulder to shoulder. Smoke from the grilled chicken, khmer 'sarawan' beats in the air, kids with water guns and of course, music blasting through random speakers.

For me, being back in Cambodia with Gabriel by my side made it all the more sweeter so this time it hit different. and I can't wait to do it all again tomorrow.

khmer new year hits different in Cambodia, I used to hear stories about it. Now I’m living it, and watching my husband soak it all in beside me. literally!

No guidebook can explain this feeling.
