From the Vault: Arsenal AF-2011A1 "Double 1911" Pistol

Brownells Gun Techs and resident experts on firearms arcana, Keith Ford and Steve Ostrem, are back at the gun collector's happy place, Rock Island Auction Company, to show us a true oddity: the Arsenal Firearms AF-2011A1 double pistol. Essentially two mirror-image 1911s fused together, the AF-2011A1 has "Pontiac Trans Am T-Top" ejection ports - one ejecting to the left, one to the right - plus two barrels, guide rods, recoil springs, triggers, and two mags linked at the baseplate. There is only one hammer, grip safety, and mainspring housing, but they're all double width. This is because the AF-2011 shoots TWO bullets at a time. A huge pistol any way you look at it, the Rock Island Auctions example happens to be chambered in .38 Super - QUITE a handful! The Arsenal AF-2011 is so odd and so badass, it's hard to believe this remarkable feat of engineering hasn't been in an action movie. Has it? If you know, tell us in the comments below.
