Significant to heritage collections across the world, Auckland Libraries holds a copy of ‘An Account of the Natives of the Tonga Islands’, first published in 1817. This book is often referenced as an accurate early account of pre-colonial life and customs in Tonga. In this episode we explore the meaning of the book with Pasifika specialists here in Tāmaki Makaurau over two centuries later.
