PAY HOMAGE TO GOD | The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (January 8, 2023)
We celebrate today the Epiphany of the Lord. The Gospel presents the search and journey of the Magi. They saw the star of the newborn king of the Jews at its rising and wanted to give him homage.
There were different responses to this pious desire of the Magi: Herod was troubled and felt threatened; the chief priests and scribes could not be bothered despite their knowledge of the prophecy; and the Holy Family received them at their house.
Which of the three responses would be ours when people come to us, asking for help to find their way to the Lord? We hope it would be that of openness and willingness to share God with them. May we be the gentle star pointing to Jesus so that many more people may pay him homage.
