Step back into the lively world of Bavarian tradition with Die Gemütlichen Schuhplattler, as we brought the sights, sounds, and energy of Oktoberfest to life at Nature Friends Los Angeles in Sierra Madre, California!
This special event took place at the historic Nature Friends Lodge, a beloved Alpine-style clubhouse that has stood for generations as a gathering place for lovers of nature, hiking, music, and culture. After the devastating Eaton Fire, the Nature Friends community worked tirelessly to rebuild — and this year’s Oktoberfest became a true celebration of resilience, friendship, and heritage.
Our group proudly performed traditional Schuhplattler dances — a lively mix of stomping, clapping, and thigh-slapping that originated in the Alpine regions of Bavaria and Tyrol. Each dance told a story of camaraderie, rhythm, and joy, reflecting the deep roots of German culture and its ability to bring people together.
