This year at Bookmark, A Benefit for Literary Arts, we took a moment to honor three incredible women who supported and shaped The Susan Hammer Center on 716 SE Grand Ave to what it is today. Thanks to their contributions and vision, this building is now a central part of the fabric in our community.
They are:
Amy Donohue - the Principal at Bora Architects and the Literary Arts Board Chair. She was instrumental in building the center and her team helped design the building pro-bono.
Ginnie Cooper – one of Literary Arts' longest-running board members, and one of Portland's celebrity librarians—yes, we proudly have those! She sold her family’s land for funds to make a surprise and early gift of $1,000,000, inspired by Susan Hammer.
and Jill Sherman – the Co-founder of Edlen & Co. and the developer of record for the OMSI master plan, also totally pro-bono.
