100 Ton Rig Custom Built For Drilling Massive 3m (10ft) Holes

Today you get a very first look at DEPCO Drilling's Brand New BIG RIG DK60

As far as trailer mounted top-head drive drill rigs go, this thing is a true monster.

With 100 Ton of Pullback and 100,000 lb/ft of torque at the head, this rig was 100% custom built for VERY large diameter drilling using reverse circulation air technology.

This rig is capable of drilling a 3.0m (10ft) blind hole 250m (800ft) deep for underground coal mine ventilation and rescue shafts.

A few Specs on the DK60 AKA "THE BIG RIG":

Rig Weight: 63 tons without Roughneck, Base or Motors
Engine: CAT C15 for Main Rig Hydraulics
Pullback: 100 tons
Head Torque: 100,000 lb/ft
Roughneck: 120,000 lb/ft
Head Tilt: Can lift 6 tons at 9m
Total Semi-Loads of Gear to Site: 17-20
Air Compressors: 7 x Ingersoll Rand

There's bigger rigs out there for sure. Offshore rigs are 10x larger size-wise, and some of the Raise Bore rigs have 20x the head torque... but for what this is (a trailer based, top head drive RC rig) it's a one of a kind MONSTER, and one of the most powerful Aussie made rigs of its kind in existence.

We're a real life machine shop for DEPCO Drilling - a 60 year old drilling company located in Central Queensland, Australia. Our job is to keep rigs running in the field - fixing all the stuff drillers break and creating all the custom gear they need to get the job done!

We run two CNC's, manual repair lathes, a few mills and a big green Megabore Lathe we call "THE HULK"... and are constantly having to make weird and wonderful tools for odd (usually oversize) jobs.
