Regarding his skin, he has major scarring. He was attacked by dogs as a baby and almost torn in two. He would have died if not for the veterinary care at the VSPCA. He has never lived as a wild monkey. Yes, I agree, a harness would be better than the chain. He does not live on the chain. They only put it on him when he comes out of his enclosure to play.
