New Super Marisa Land - Extra Level 9 (Final: Hakurei Shrine)

The ninth of the extra levels added in with the v1.10 patch released September 9, 2011. This only unlocks after you clear the eighth level (which requires you clear all previous levels).

A simple boss rush level (sans three fairies and giant mushroom). Seems like most of the bosses are a bit buffed from the versions you fight in the main game (Alice throws dolls faster, Inaba fight throws in some bamboo spears, Sanae's frog and snake start cloning themselves, Nue flies faster), but they're still not that difficult overall, though it takes a fair bit of consistency to make it all the way through this with no starting items.

It wraps up with a very short fight against Reimu at the end (which I would have perfected if not for her poorly defined collision hitbox while crouching). Your reward for 100%'ing the game? A fanservice picture of Reimu with her clothes all trashed. I was hoping for something a little more substantial and less tacky, but oh well. The levels were a nice added challenge either way.

On a side note, I re-cleared the final boss after doing this. There are no changes to the ending after clearing this (other than one more item in the list of "achievements" during the result screen).
