How to ACCURATELY Test Your Testosterone Levels - Immunoassy vs LCMS/MS Testosterone Tests

Today we're going to discuss how to accurately test your testosterone levels. Most doctors will give you an Immunoassay testosterone test because it's cheap, fast, and widely available. We may even use this from time to time if time is of the essence or just as a baseline blood sample. However, it can be inaccurate because other androgens could be caught up in an immunoassay testosterone test (depends on the test). As a result, you may have a higher reading of testosterone compared to the gold standard testosterone test. For symptomatic men, they should get an LCMS/MS testosterone test. This stands for liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry. This testosterone test is much more specific and will give the person a much more accurate reading on their total testosterone. This is of critical importance for men looking for testosterone replacement therapy.
