Riding to Faith | Santaneshwor Mahadev Temple

This time, after our Duwakot ride, we headed towards Santaneshwor Mahadev Temple from Tikathali, Lalitpur, riding our motorbike and enjoying every moment of the journey. The road was filled with conversations, laughter, and excitement as we passed through beautiful villages and peaceful surroundings. Riding uphill with fresh air and scenic views made the experience even more special.

Santaneshwor Mahadev Temple is one of the most spiritually powerful Shiva temples in Nepal, deeply connected with faith, hope, and devotion. According to ancient beliefs, this sacred place is especially visited by couples seeking blessings for children. It is believed that Lord Shiva’s divine grace here fulfills sincere prayers made with a pure heart. The temple is also mentioned in the holy Shree Swasthani Brata Katha, making it an important pilgrimage site for Hindu devotees.

Located about an hour’s drive from Lagankhel, the temple sits peacefully on a hilltop, offering breathtaking views of the Kathmandu Valley and nearby villages. The journey itself feels spiritual as you pass through places like Satdobato, Dholahiti, Sunakothi, Thecho, and Chapagaon.

Surrounded by dense forests, fresh air, and the calming sound of birds, Santaneshwor Mahadev offers a peaceful escape from busy city life. On special days such as Ekadashi, Maha Shivaratri, Teej, and Dashain, the temple becomes lively with devotees. Mondays and Saturdays are considered especially auspicious for worship.
