My Story Of Faith, Hope, And Survival - Alex Gitungano - Justice Health Initiative

Alex Gitungano is the founder and director of Justice Health Initiative, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children with rare and severe medical conditions receive life-saving treatment. Without this help, many of these children would have no access to the specialists and advanced care they desperately need. Justice Health Initiative is about more than just healthcare—it’s about bringing hope to the hopeless and ensuring that no child is left behind due to a lack of resources.

Originally from Burundi, Alex came to the U.S. on what was meant to be a 6-month trip, chaperoning a 5-year-old child with severe burn injuries to receive reconstructive surgery at Shriners Children's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. But when political unrest broke out in his home country, Alex and the child suddenly found themselves stranded, unable to return home—turning their short trip into a story of survival, resilience, and hope.

Over time, Alex legally adopted the child and built a new life in Boston, but his mission didn’t stop there. Inspired by his own hardship and faith, he founded Justice Health Initiative to help other children with impossible conditions do the impossible. Now, his medical charity is transforming lives worldwide, ensuring that children who once had no options now have access to critical healthcare and specialists.

This is a story of perseverance, faith, and humanitarian impact—a journey that turned struggle into strength and hope into healing.
