Unapologetic Boudoir Fashion | Vintage Lingerie Sewing | 1935 Dressing Gown Tutorial

This Dressing Gown was drafted from a 1935 Haslam System of Dress Cutting, Book of Draftings No. 12, figure 25. I used an old net and seamed vine drape. I keep calling it lace because of how it drapes and the embroidery makes it deceptive. In truth, it is a very soft netting.
Netting is super easy to work with. Just don't pull on it during sewing and keep your cut lines super simple. Go very slow so that you don't have to stitch rip. Stitch ripping netting is rather awful.

The resulting video may not be work safe. I had some fun with my lingerie drawer and my new camera. I've never been amazing at taking selfies, but I think I'm starting to get much better!

It took me a long time to decide that I could post something like this. In the end I realized a few things.

Purity Culture and modesty demanded by anyone else other than one's self creates a world that is more dangerous for women. So yeah, I'm going to continue to prance around the internet in my underwear secure in the knowledge that how people in real life react to me after seeing me in my underwear says more about them than me.

Also. I believe that Betty White would absolutely tell me to unapologetically go for it.
