A New Beginning - An Overview for New Players

This isn't a strategy video for ANB, it's just a short(ish) video explaining what ANB is and why it's still worth taking part in, even if you are a new player.

A New Beginning (ANB) is a time limited competitive event that runs fairly regularly within Eternium, except when there is a major release at which time ANB events go on a short pause. They come in three different flavours -Bronze, Silver and Gold - but all have the same aim, to get as far as possible through Trials. There are two clocks that countdown during the event - a main event clock which is typically around 9 days - when this reaches zero the event is over for everyone. The second clock is your own personal playtime clock - in Bronze you have 12 hours, Silver 9 hours and Gold just 6 hours to progress. How you spend your personal time is up to you - the personal playtime clock only ticks down when you are in Story maps, Trials, the Training Grounds or the Gauntlet. It is wise to spend real time doing nothing but upgrading abilities!

You create a brand new level 1 character which is separate to your main characters. The event character will have access to your main account Gem pool, Glory, unlocked Crafting Recipes, Crafting Mastery and Medals, but will not have access to your main account stash, gold or crafting materials.

Character unlock slots are extremely cheap compared to normal main account characters, so for a new player this is an excellent way of getting a fully unlocked character for less than 400 gems!

Crafting costs are greatly reduced (90% reduced gold cost and 80% materials cost) with the flipside that any items crafted are "Ephemeral" and will disappear at the end of the event. Crafted items in ANB cannot be salvaged either. You can keep two items that you craft if you apply Celestial Transforms to those items - these are rewards at Trials 90 and 110.

Speaking of Celestial Transforms, ANB events are the main way for you to obtain Celestial items. If you apply a Celestial Transform to an item during ANB, that item will gain an additional max value Vitality stat plus all it's other stats are pushed to near maximum. At the end of the event the Clestial Transform is automatically removed from the item and sent to your main account for use on something there. The item that had been transformed reverts back to a normal item (it will lose the Vitality stat but retain the near maximum other stats) and be unbound from the event character, meaning you can then use it on any of your main characters.
