Rhonda Grant-Connelly is the woman behind Blackfeet MMIP, a grassroots effort on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation to bring missing and murdered Indigenous people home.
Grant-Connelly’s nonprofit helps families search for missing loved ones and collaborates with other organizations to help families with meals and gas money, while they seek answers. Highlighting her personal work is the last story in NBC Montana’s “Vanished in Montana” coverage, which began in May for Missing and Murdered Indigenous People Awareness Month.
A tragedy nine years ago this winter sparked Grant-Connelly’s work. Her nephew Matthew Rattlesnake-Grant was murdered, his body found in a Browning alley.
