October 28th - Cruel Joke (Pokepasta Song)

History: Allister is a gym leader from Pokemon: Sword and Shield. He’s got a tragic backstory that leaves a lot up to speculation, but one thing is made pretty clear in most people’s eyes: his parents are dead. This fun little Pokepasta story shows my interpretation of what happened. His own Pokemon killed them as a prank. So, uh… yeah, I just made this for fun as part of a challenge to make a new Pokepasta for every generation. Pheromone Failure was part of that too, but I honestly got bored after this one, so I kinda dropped the idea and planned to eventually release this. That didn’t happen. So, here I am now! I honestly only put this here because I had basically lost all motivation to put effort into the art of this, so it technically is canceled.

Penove’s Opinions: The song starts off with a glass crashing to the floor as Allister shows up in the dining room to discover that something has gone wrong. Gengar would have been standing on the table beside the collapsed corpses of the young child’s parents. The song swaps the call and response around at the start, Allister is the first to go, before Gengar builds the tension and starts off the beat. The bass and drums here create this amazingly intense bopping beat that keeps providing this flow through the whole piece. The melodies are pretty damn good too! I remember most of them even if the placeholder chromatics don’t do them as much justice as I wanted. Halfway through the song, Gengar gigantamaxes, which IN THE LORE turns his mouth into a gateway to the underworld. Also in the lore, Allister canonically spent time there before returning. Another voice joins in, a Mimikyu, dueting with Gengar. The song slows down before building back up to an even more intense finale, reprising the main chorus (as per usual in my songs). I also really like the ending long note section, it really sends the song off well.

Tomorrow: It just keeps getting better. Friday Night Clashin’s best song is up next. Why the second one? I have no clue. It’s just the best, okay?
