Join astrophysicist Kelsey Johnson and National Geographic Explorer Tara Roberts as they share their journeys into humanity's greatest frontiers—our planet’s deep oceans and the vast universe. Johnson’s Into the Unknown: The Quest to Understand the Mysteries of the Cosmos, named a Best Book of 2024 by Publisher’s Weekly, takes readers on a captivating journey through the far reaches of space, exploring the mysteries of the universe and the questions that lie beyond current scientific understanding. Roberts, in her memoir Written in the Waters: A Memoir of History, Home, and Belonging, recounts her quest to uncover the mysteries of the Atlantic slave trade through the discovery of lost shipwrecks, while charting her way through a personal exploration of identity and heritage. Roberts’ work has earned her recognition as a National Geographic Explorer of the Year. This panel explores the power of women in science as they tackle some of the most profound and challenging mysteries in our world and beyond.
