Pyrography: Live Wood Burning Soft Petals. Contrast is more than just Value???

Today, I am going to be focusing on soft and delicate petals in pyrography. The iris has so many ruffled areas along the edge that I don't want them feeling forced or stiff. The ripples dance and flow along the edges and this is what I want my wood burning to feel like. I want to capture this soft flow and some areas out of focus to help improve my contrast. This is the type of contrast I will be discussing.
